wedinr got back on schedule this week with dinner at Citizen’s Band in the SOMA. Since it was close to Jen’s birthday, we made it a pseudo birthday dinner, and Jen was thoughtful enough to bring cupcakes (like in elementary school). We started off at Citizen’s Band (weirdest bathroom), then moved to City Beer Store, and then once more to Bloodhound. Nice to know everything is nearby… except home. Happy Birthday Jen!

02/15/2012: We realized we can never eat fried chicken without thinking of Doug... so we made sure he knew we were eating it without him. The mac & cheese with the onion rings were YUM.

02/15/2012: Birthday cupcakes! Thank you Jen!!

02/15/2012: Post dinner drinks @ City Beer Store. Beer, beer, and more beer!

02/15/2012: @Bloodhound after City Beer Store kicked us out at 10PM. What's in hot buttered rum? Well, rum, butter, spices, and delicious... which led to this video:

01/11/2012: My craving for beer ended up getting a group together for dinner @ Pizzeria Delfina (start of wedinr)! I miss the days of grabbing dinner in this area with Boram, but am glad to have other good friends to continue the tradition! Lower left picture is so funny- typical Adri & Will interaction... + Jen's indifference!

01/11/2012: Amazing pizza, lasagna, meatball & salad!

01/11/2012: Round 2 @ the Grove!

01/11/2012: First there were two glasses, then three, then four... then there was the girl that just drank straight from the pitcher.
It’s been a long time coming… to say that the last few years of being a Michigan football fan, a Michigan native, and a Michigan alumnus was painful would fall short of being an understatement. And to think that I had it bad as a student where it was a perfect season with a Rose Bowl win or bust. The way we got to the Sugar Bowl was certainly not the way I wanted, nor was the win all that comforting- but a win is a win, and a BCS bowl win at that. To say that every team that has won a BCS bowl game deserved it wouldn’t fall true, and it is certainly debatable whether we really deserved to be here in the first place. But when life puts you in a good place and your life is on a winning streak, you don’t ask questions… you get up and run with it for as long as you can because a losing streak is inevitably right around the corner.

01/03/2012: Well, there goes eating healthy in 2012.... and drinking less beer. Aaron, "I can really go for some Jack in the Box tacos." Me, "Ooh, a Jack in the Box! Let's eat."

01/03/2012: Sugar Bowl @ the 'Stone with guest Michigan fans Will & Grace!

09/08/2011: Catching up and celebrating Will's safe return from India @ Greenburger's

09/08/2011: This coke light was awesome- "Lose weight asshole!"
Because we’re so baller, we went to HOPR again, yet for another birthday.

08/16/11: Will-shirts for Will's Birthday! Except Will wore a suit.

08/16/2011: HOPR

08/16/2011: HOPR- Did somebody say steak?

08/16/2011: Pre-Lezlee; Post-Lezlee

08/16/2011: Happy Birthday Will!
sfpoopoo got together for the first time in a long time for a small holiday get-together. The potluck dinner and a white elephant gift exchange was planned last minute, but everything ran smoothly… not to mention with plenty of food for everybody. I didn’t realize that the gifts for the exchange game had to be something you already own, and although it was hard finding something worthwhile that I can use as my gift it definitely added a lot of humor to it. For example, I got a banana phone- it’s hard to explain because it’s ridiculous, but it’s hightech considering it connects to your phone via bluetooth and all.

Potluck dinner goodness!

Doug & Will

There were definitely some interesting gifts. From the head scratcher to an assorted mix of 라면.

Lezlee & Cathie’s chocolate 건배 뽀뽀

We had a small rock-out session at the end. Everybody is very talented!

Of course, a group picture. Thanks for the pictures Ahnah!
Next on the agenda for quite possibly the busiest (and most fun) couple of months was a road trip down to LA. Unlike the previous few trips where it was just me or me with another friend, this one consisted of six people! We were to drive down in a fun filled caravan, but people’s work schedules and so forth derailed those plans last minute. Regardless, we all made it down safe and sound, and other than the 1 hour traffic delay in the middle of nowhere, the drive wasn’t too bad.
We dropped our stuff off at Aaron’s as soon as we arrived and headed straight to our go-to Ktown bar, Gaam. The place was packed as expected, but we surprisingly got a table for 10 in a matter of minutes. We ordered enough drinks for 10 people, but the other half didn’t arrive for another 30 minutes or so… hence, we drank everything and ordered more. Towards the end of the night we were joined by some more friends and we all headed to Maitreya. At Maitreya, we ran into the ktown cowboys actors and I couldn’t resist but take a picture with them. We chatted for just a few moments and I wished them good luck on their future episodes.
On Saturday we headed to Father’s Kitchen for some burgers, and I guided Grace & Will around Torrance, Redondo Beach and the Friendship Bell in San Pedro. It was nice to stop by home and drive around my home town, but the driving was exhausting. Note to future self: don’t drive so much next time.
I recently learned that Janet Cha (now Shin) lives in LA, and Esther Ahn was also in town so we got together for some good Korean food. Now that I think about it… we didn’t take any pictures together, bummer
I’m sure I had my camera with me, but I was probably too embarrassed to start taking pictures of food in front of her parents. Regardless, we enjoyed awesome galbi & galbi jjim, and afterwards headed over for a tour of their condo nearby. After hanging out there for a short time, Esther, her friend Jason, and I headed out to Gaam (two days in a row for me!), and then to Orange to meet up with the rest of the group. Again, no pictures, bummer.
Sunday’s lunch was galbi tang, completing the tri-fecta of galbi within a matter of hours for me. Dson and Koun joined us this time! After grabbing a quick dessert at ice kiss, we were headed back for SF. Again, I think all the driving on Saturday took a toll and made the trip feel very… tiring. To commemorate the trip, I made a quick video to recap the weekend. Here it is:

Will suggested batting cages. I agreed. I thought it would be nice to pound some big balls (as opposed to little mini golf balls), and it sure felt good! Not sure if it was the bat, my terrible hand/eye coordination, or my girly weak hands… but the stingers were no joke. It was seriously painful, but it still felt good to let some frustration out here.

The batting cages were located behind this castle.

Will showing me how it’s done!

Me showing you how to pose with a bat.
We got hungry after the cages so decided to hit up a Japanese restaurant on the way back up to the city. Had no idea where to go of course, but thanks to yelp we found a nice little restaurant called Kobe. The food was really good and the deals were also not bad. A side of warning… they give you a LOT of food.

I feel like most restaurants give you crap salad and crap miso, but their’s was quality.

Tempura Udon… only HALF of my order….

Sushi & Sashimi… the other half. Mmmm~ two people could have easily shared one combo order. But thats no fun…

After two years in the bay area, the stars aligned and I finally got a chance to go to Tahoe! I got a special invitation to hang out with the Fluffies at their annual Tahoe trip- this year to Sierra. It’s been at least 5 years since the last time I went skiing, and I’ve gone at most 2 or 3 times in the past 10 years after going almost 60-90 times a year during junior and senior year of high school. When I got invited to the trip I instantly went on a mad search for all my gear… only to come up empty. I thought of it as a good excuse to buy new stuff but it was also very expensive. My rational is that I’ll just use the crap out of it.
Jane picked me & Will up from my house, and after picking up some more friends we headed over to Cathy’s in Emeryville for a quick reorg of the caravan. We then stopped by Sonic for a quick bite, and although I wasn’t hungry from eating 인절미 and spam musubi, I couldn’t pass up on Sonic.

Arlan’s spam musubi! I was excepting to eat one piece, but I got the entire roll! Delicious!

The dice game on the first night! Now I know what they were playing on Pirates of the Caribbean!

Do NOT sit next to Jason L. in this game. He will knock you out, make you buy in with shots, only to knock you out again…

Andrew woke us up EARLY Saturday morning to hit the slopes. Jane cooked up some delicious breakfast sandwiches and we were on our way. The problem with skiing for the first time in a long time… or more accurately, the problem with exercising for the first time in a long time is that everything hurts about 10 seconds into it. I got tired putting on my boots (no, seriously), and was exhausted by the time we got to the bottom of the hill from the car.
After the first run I quickly realized these are not the little bunny hills we have in Michigan, but full blow mountains! I’m sure my body was saying STOP after the first run, but I had to pull every muscle in my legs to go on at least 3 or 4 more runs before lunch break.

The group packing up!
Ahsome demonstrating what we’re about to do~

From car to hill… SO FAR!

Ninja vanis~~~h and Ahsome. I was pretty much dead by this point (bottom of the hill)

Everybody in good order: first run of the day

I slapped Ahsome’s butt with my ski pole, and it bent it… her butt is made of steeeeeel!
Play the videos together, its kind of funny, heh.

Ahsome fell asleep while waiting for food. A Chinese lady walks over, looks at Ahsome, hesitates to take one of our chair, looks at Ahsome again (notices she’s knocked out), takes our chair. I saw it ALL! DDAK gul lyut suh!

Mmm~ delicious lunch! Sang and I noticed their “prime rib burger” used the same meat at their regular burger… we got the prime rib burger.
After lunch is where things got interesting, hazy, unclear (depending on the person). Apparently a few people were allocated with a larger amount of the special juice we prepared the night before, and now that I think about it, decided it would be a great idea to drink it all. While they were drinking away, I made a promise to Will that we would go on 3 more rides with one hour of skiing to go. Bad idea. Why? Because on run 1/3 I could barely carve because my thighs and calves were dead. But promise is a promise and I went on all three runs, PLUS a bunny slope run so more like 3.5 runs.
Just an example of the ridiculous state of these kids.

It was dinner time back in the cabin for most of us… nap time for some others. Big thumbs up to our cooks of the night!! From there we eventually moved onto some ridiculous round of games. There were quite a few moments where I thought I was going to die laughing. I was also challenged to a push up contest somewhere during the night by JANE (yes a girl, thanks Ahsome for reminding me…) and lost. Not only were my legs sore the next day, my upper body was sore too, my entire body was mad at me. After a quick stop for Pho at a random town near Sacramento (random as in, these people had cows and donkeys roaming around in their back yard), we called it a weekend and headed our separate ways. Good job guys, and thanks for inviting me to an awesome trip!
