02/04/2012: Best housewarming gift ever!! Thanks Grace & Andrew!
Now that I am a south bay resident, Wednesday lunches in the city feel extra special!- I also need to take advantage more often.

01/18/2012: Lunch with Gracie, Doug & Peter @ La Boulange de Market! Great suggestion Gracie!

01/18/2012: Grace & Peter looking busy and important.

01/18/2012: My smoked salmon open sandwich was YUM. The boulange quiche was also delish.
It’s been a long time coming… to say that the last few years of being a Michigan football fan, a Michigan native, and a Michigan alumnus was painful would fall short of being an understatement. And to think that I had it bad as a student where it was a perfect season with a Rose Bowl win or bust. The way we got to the Sugar Bowl was certainly not the way I wanted, nor was the win all that comforting- but a win is a win, and a BCS bowl win at that. To say that every team that has won a BCS bowl game deserved it wouldn’t fall true, and it is certainly debatable whether we really deserved to be here in the first place. But when life puts you in a good place and your life is on a winning streak, you don’t ask questions… you get up and run with it for as long as you can because a losing streak is inevitably right around the corner.

01/03/2012: Well, there goes eating healthy in 2012.... and drinking less beer. Aaron, "I can really go for some Jack in the Box tacos." Me, "Ooh, a Jack in the Box! Let's eat."

01/03/2012: Sugar Bowl @ the 'Stone with guest Michigan fans Will & Grace!

10/26/2011: Grace keeping me company and doing work while I study and nap...

07/06/2011: Happy hour... sans the happy hour price @ Press Club w/ Grace & Peter.
sfpoopoo got together for the first time in a long time for a small holiday get-together. The potluck dinner and a white elephant gift exchange was planned last minute, but everything ran smoothly… not to mention with plenty of food for everybody. I didn’t realize that the gifts for the exchange game had to be something you already own, and although it was hard finding something worthwhile that I can use as my gift it definitely added a lot of humor to it. For example, I got a banana phone- it’s hard to explain because it’s ridiculous, but it’s hightech considering it connects to your phone via bluetooth and all.

Potluck dinner goodness!

Doug & Will

There were definitely some interesting gifts. From the head scratcher to an assorted mix of 라면.

Lezlee & Cathie’s chocolate 건배 뽀뽀

We had a small rock-out session at the end. Everybody is very talented!

Of course, a group picture. Thanks for the pictures Ahnah!
Next on the agenda for quite possibly the busiest (and most fun) couple of months was a road trip down to LA. Unlike the previous few trips where it was just me or me with another friend, this one consisted of six people! We were to drive down in a fun filled caravan, but people’s work schedules and so forth derailed those plans last minute. Regardless, we all made it down safe and sound, and other than the 1 hour traffic delay in the middle of nowhere, the drive wasn’t too bad.
We dropped our stuff off at Aaron’s as soon as we arrived and headed straight to our go-to Ktown bar, Gaam. The place was packed as expected, but we surprisingly got a table for 10 in a matter of minutes. We ordered enough drinks for 10 people, but the other half didn’t arrive for another 30 minutes or so… hence, we drank everything and ordered more. Towards the end of the night we were joined by some more friends and we all headed to Maitreya. At Maitreya, we ran into the ktown cowboys actors and I couldn’t resist but take a picture with them. We chatted for just a few moments and I wished them good luck on their future episodes.
On Saturday we headed to Father’s Kitchen for some burgers, and I guided Grace & Will around Torrance, Redondo Beach and the Friendship Bell in San Pedro. It was nice to stop by home and drive around my home town, but the driving was exhausting. Note to future self: don’t drive so much next time.
I recently learned that Janet Cha (now Shin) lives in LA, and Esther Ahn was also in town so we got together for some good Korean food. Now that I think about it… we didn’t take any pictures together, bummer
I’m sure I had my camera with me, but I was probably too embarrassed to start taking pictures of food in front of her parents. Regardless, we enjoyed awesome galbi & galbi jjim, and afterwards headed over for a tour of their condo nearby. After hanging out there for a short time, Esther, her friend Jason, and I headed out to Gaam (two days in a row for me!), and then to Orange to meet up with the rest of the group. Again, no pictures, bummer.
Sunday’s lunch was galbi tang, completing the tri-fecta of galbi within a matter of hours for me. Dson and Koun joined us this time! After grabbing a quick dessert at ice kiss, we were headed back for SF. Again, I think all the driving on Saturday took a toll and made the trip feel very… tiring. To commemorate the trip, I made a quick video to recap the weekend. Here it is:

Jonathan messaged me asking for a favor, a favor to take this money and buy Chris and friends a nice fancy dinner. More like a gift than a favor huh? I’ve been wanting to go back to Waterbar for a real meal after the alumni association’s annual meeting last year. I also knew Chris would like the place because it has cool humongous fish tanks around the restaurant.
Before dinner could be enjoyed, we first had to golf. We headed east to San Leandro to play at Monarch Bay GC. I usually hate this course, because its long, and windy… and flat with lots of traps to lose balls. However, today was a beautiful day and no complaints were rendered!

There were a lot of these little bugs though. Some decided to grab on to me, so instead of freaking out and killing them, I befriended them. I think I named him Mike.

This fox wanted to join the Daniel’s Friends Club. Denied.

Chris also wanted to join. Denied.

Then Chris brought Doug along and asked to join as a pair… so I said ok.

BIG beer cans. One is short and fat. The other thin and long. But in reality… they both make you short and fat.

Chris’ awesome pink tees. I want them- I stole some, shhh!

I <3 golf! (and planes)…

I always find the view of the city from the bridge to be amazing
We were quickly off to Waterbar after golf and started our delicious meal in fashion, from wine to oysters to an array of appetizers. Ahsome suggested dressing up, and since it’s rare you get to splurge at a nice restaurant, we concurred. The food was really good, ambiance was beautiful, but the alcohol, i mean… the friends really made the whole experience awesome!

Yum! Chris & I love oysters, Grace not so much…

Appetizers were yum too! Ahsome’s fav was the truffle fries… -______-

Delish dinner. I found some to be a little salty… but I usually find everything to be a little salty.

The tank looks gross from this picture, but its awesome in real life! True story.

I also <3 bridges.. especially at night when it’s all bright and shiny

Thanks again Jonathan!

I continued my birthday celebration over the weekend with golf at Stonetree GC in Novato, CA Saturday morning. I was a little nervous due to the way I was hitting balls at the range on Thursday, but was secretly hoping I had taken the rust off a bit and would hit better on Saturday. Nope. I played the entire course like I was hitting at the range… note to self, go to the range more. It was a beautiful course on a beautiful day nevertheless (with the exception of the cold front that crept up on us in the final two holes), and a day spent golfing is a day spent well. Thanks Chris for golf! And beer! And the hot dogs!

There was a LOT of traffic going towards the GG Bridge… why?

Finally the bridge! I’ll never get used to crossing this bridge, so beautiful

MMMM~ golf course hot dogs are always good ^___^

Beautiful course huh?

Some people enjoy beer while golfing… beer for me usually means, f-it, I give up
These guys made me happy though. Never seen woodpeckers at work, they were so cute!

Winners dinner! In-n-out. Healthy weekend already.
Back at home we prepared for the birthday house party. Guests quickly trickled in and I went from sober to… not so sober a little too fast. Let’s not drink so fast from now on, yah? Thanks to all who made it to the party, hopefully I gave you some alcohol and didn’t drink everything by myself!

Home made beer pong table, courtesy of cheap equipment at IKEA! Tada~

Putting the table to good use!
After defeating death Sunday morning and afternoon, it was birthday dinner time at Local Kitchen! It was the perfect venue, primarily because some of us were starving to death and it was all-you-can-eat pizza night! Thanks everybody for a delicious dinner!

Truffle fries, yum!

One of maybe eight or ten pizzas we ordered.

Thanks again everybody! You are all the bestest!

After meeting up with Rhie Rhie for some coffee, I came home and started cooking dinner so that I can use the leftovers for lunch on Monday. Then ring ring, “Genki Ramen in 30 mins!” I finished cooking dinner and ran out to the sunset to catch dinner with the usual crew. The ramen was good, although I wasn’t a fan of the slab of butter on top. Yes, I ordered the butter & corn ramen, but who would’ve thought they just throw a slab on top?!! After dinner, I refused to go to Genki crepes a few blocks away for more food. I don’t know why I refused, because I ended up following everybody and eating it anyway. If I was full after the ramen, now I was super full. And fat. But it was all well worth it.

butter and corn ramen, sans the butter

mmm~ delicious dessert crepes

peace!
