I hear stories of hikes in the bay all the time: fun, scenic, awesome hikes.  After more than three years in the city, I finally got to go on my first one and it really lived up to the hype!  We took a trail around Lands End by master trail guide Sang.  It was nice to be outside taking in fresh air, enjoying nature and the scenery around the city.  The only times I’m ever outside are for golf, football & softball.  I guess golf is a bit like hiking, with a swing of the golf club here and there… and less talking.  Anyway, we had an amazing bbq prepped by chef Brian after the hike and lasted throughout the night.  Unfortunately, the bbq was at Ocean Beach where the wind never stops blowing, and it drops to unbearable temperatures from barely bearable temperatures very quickly.  I am convinced you should never stay out in Ocean Beach for more than 2 hours… and never after sunset.

07/09/2011: Sutro Bath Ruins- looks like ruins from ancient Roman times, but it's actually 'just' about 100 years old.

07/09/2011: Tunnel by the baths. Reminded me of the movie Sanctum... kind of...

To celebrate Peter’s 50th, the group headed out for a fancy shmancy dinner at House of Prime Rib aka HOPR.  I’ve definitely been here once, but I can’t remember when… probably like three or so years ago.  I’d been craving steak ever since I was in Korea (I guess distance makes the heard grow fonder, considering I rarely ever crave steak).  It’s been so long since I had prime rib, that I forgot to order it medium rare and I got a piece of rubber.  No worries though, I sent it back and got a nice slab at the end.  I was so proud of myself for finishing the entire thing… only to see Doug eat his second, and third… and a fourth… well, maybe not a fourth, I lost count somewhere in between.  Amazing feat nonetheless.

07/07/2011: "Yep, it's my birthday." 50 or 31, it's all the same right?

07/07/2011: The day we ate an entire cow. Half by Doug.

07/07/2011: Awesome... in every way possible.

07/07/2011: Cheers to 31 years.

Sunday was anything but chill.  It started with my parent’s friends coming over to go golfing, and me getting kicked out of the house… but that’s okay, because I had my own tee time with Aaron & Jae.  I was bracing for a ridiculous heat wave, but there was a gentle breeze that made it bearable.  It was a bit hard to overcome Aaron’s handicap, but Jae did most of the work with a single sing of his 8-iron, and Aaron broke down on the 18th.

Afterwards we ate dinner at Il Pastaio in fancy shmancy Beverly Hills 91210.

07/04/2011: HOT. I was wondering where I got a funky tan line on my arm from... mystery solved. From driving.
